Almost a year!

This past week Luke turned 11 months! We have had a lot of "firsts." First haircut, first word ("yea" and "dada"), first time taking steps while holding someone's hand, and learning to stand and hold onto things. As his first birthday approaches, I have been very nostalgic, shedding a few tears (of joy remembering back over the year as well as sadness that it is ending), have been carrying him in my moby wrap and ergo a lot before he grows out of them, and enjoying our nightly nursing/rocking times before I wean him.  I am very much looking forward to the toddler years and love seeing him grow up, but it is sad that the infant stage is about to end soon.  Believe it or not, though, I actually am looking forward to this next year when he begins to push boundaries and tests limits. One of my favorite parts about being a teacher is watching children change, grow, and mature. I love building character in them and this is what I really look forward to getting to do with my son in the years to come. We have begun reading Sheperding a Child's Heart and Raising Great Kids (by Cloud and Townsend, authors of Boundaries). and I highly recommend these to anyone looking into how to discipline in a godly way as well as build their child's character.

Well, enough "mushy" talk...here are the picture highlights of this past month!:
